Chicago Airport Crash: Aircraft Breaks Fence on Impact

A Gulfstream G150 jet was involved in a Chicago plane crash on Wednesday afternoon after it overran the runway and crashed through a fence at Chicago Executive Airport in Wheeling.

The incident happened around 12:45 PM. The jet came to a stop near Hintz Road after crossing the airport boundary, close to passing cars.

Emergency Crews Rush to the Scene

Rescue teams arrived quickly, and aerial footage showed the jet largely intact despite leaving a trail of debris along its path.

The airport has been closed while crews work to remove the aircraft and secure the crash area.

No Injuries Reported

Airport officials confirmed in a statement: “We are currently gathering information regarding the incident. No injuries have been reported, and the airport remains closed while efforts are underway to remove the aircraft.”

The Wheeling Fire Chief also said only the pilot and co-pilot were on board, and both walked away without injury.

He explained: “The plane was coming from Baltimore when the pilot experienced some kind of mechanical issue that caused the runway overrun.”

Plane Connected to Insurance Firm

The jet is linked to Arthur J. Gallagher & Co., an international insurance and risk management company. The firm confirmed in a statement: “Two pilots were on board with no passengers. There were no injuries.”

Cause of Crash Under Investigation

Officials are investigating the mechanical problem that forced the overrun. Chicago Executive Airport remains closed until the aircraft is removed and the runway area is cleared.
