Derek Huffman, a Texas father of four, has attracted significant attention on social media after relocating his family to Russia. The Huffmans regularly share updates from their new life on their YouTube channel, sparking both intrigue and concern.

Escape from “LGBT Propaganda”

In a recent vlog, Derek and his wife, DeAnna Huffman, revealed that they moved to Russia to escape what they described as “LGBT propaganda” in the United States. Although their story was initially captivating, a disturbing update about the Huffman family has raised alarms.

Claims of Joining the Russian Army

In a separate YouTube video, DeAnna claimed that Derek has enlisted in the Russian army and is being sent to the frontlines in Ukraine. However, these assertions remain unverified, and DeAnna has since deleted the video.

Fact-Checking the Claims

Despite DeAnna’s insistence that her husband has joined the Russian army, there are no official records to support this claim. Snopes, a well-known fact-checking website, conducted research on the Huffman family and found no evidence confirming Derek’s enlistment or deployment.

Records indicate that the Huffman family relocated to Russia in April 2025. Their YouTube channel includes a video documenting their move, as well as another from May 2025 showing Derek supposedly enlisting in the army. While there are images of him in a Russian army uniform, it remains unclear what role he is fulfilling.

Reasons for Relocation

In an interview with the Russian news outlet, Russia Today, Derek Huffman expressed his reasons for moving: “I left Texas to escape the ‘LGBT propaganda’ and concerns over LGBT indoctrination in American schools.”
