A helicopter crash in Carbon County, Pennsylvania, claimed the lives of two people on Thursday afternoon. According to local authorities, the aircraft went down around 3:00 p.m. near the Penn’s Peak concert hall in Penn Forest Township, prompting a major response from emergency crews.

The Carbon County coroner confirmed two fatalities at the scene. The identities of the victims have not yet been released.

Emergency Crews Respond to the Scene

Emergency medical services (EMS), fire departments, and police units were dispatched immediately after reports of the crash. Witnesses said the helicopter went down in a heavily wooded area near the venue, complicating rescue efforts.

Officials noted that there have been no confirmed injuries beyond the two fatalities, though the situation remains under review.

NTSB Launches Investigation

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has been called to the site to investigate the cause of the crash. Federal investigators are working alongside state and local officials to piece together what led to the deadly incident.

Utility Company Confirms Contractor Involved

A spokesperson for PPL Corporation confirmed the helicopter was operated by a third-party contractor performing work on the company’s systems at the time of the crash.

“We are on scene working with first responders to investigate the incident,” said Dana Burns, PPL Communications Director.

As of now, the cause of the Carbon County helicopter crash remains unclear. Authorities have not released details on the victims’ identities, and investigations are ongoing. Officials assured the community that more information would be provided as it becomes available.
