A violent Saturday unfolded in the Bronx as at least 11 people were shot in multiple incidents, including a broad-daylight attack that left four teenagers injured. NYPD officials say investigations are underway, but no arrests have been made so far.
4 Teens Injured in Westchester Square Daylight Shooting
Around 4:00 PM, chaos erupted on Overing Street in Westchester Square when a street fight among teens escalated into gunfire. A lone shooter opened fire, hitting four teenagers:
- 13-year-old boy – shot in the leg
- 14-year-old girl – shot in the leg
- 14-year-old boy – graze wound to the foot
- 15-year-old boy – grazed in both legs
All were taken to Jacobi Hospital and are in stable condition. Police say the gunman fled on foot and remains at large. Detectives are reviewing surveillance footage and interviewing witnesses.
White Plains Road Shooting Leaves 1 Critically Injured
At about 5:00 PM, another shooting occurred near 3544 White Plains Road. A man was found with a critical gunshot wound to the abdomen and rushed to a nearby hospital.
The suspect is described as a Black male with dreadlocks, wearing a purple hoodie and gray shorts. He fled the scene and is still on the run.
Four Shot Near Burke and Wilson Avenues
Just before 8:00 PM, gunfire broke out at Burke Avenue and Wilson Avenue, leaving four people injured:
- Two victims are in critical condition
- One person sustained serious injuries
- Another suffered non-life-threatening wounds
All victims were transported to the hospital. Police have not released details about the shooter.
Additional Shooting Near Haffen Park
Authorities confirmed another shooting near Haffen Park in Baychester, where two people were critically injured. Few details have been disclosed about this case.
NYPD Investigation Ongoing
As of now, no suspects are in custody. NYPD is urging anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers.
“Gun violence like this will not be tolerated,” an NYPD spokesperson said, adding that patrols are being increased in the affected neighborhoods.
