A tragic shooting at a Target store off Research Boulevard in North Austin on Monday afternoon left three people dead and at least one other injured, according to the Austin Police Department.

Suspect Arrested After Brief Manhunt

The suspect, described as a white male wearing khaki shorts and a Hawaiian floral shirt, allegedly opened fire in the parking lot before fleeing in a stolen vehicle. By 3:30 p.m., Austin PD confirmed the suspect had been detained.
“At least four people were shot with three confirmed fatalities,” police said in a statement.

- After the shooting — Suspect fled the scene in a carjacked vehicle.

Investigation Ongoing
Police have not released the suspect’s name or a possible motive. The area remains an active crime scene, with parts of the parking lot closed off.
The Austin Police Department urges anyone with video or eyewitness accounts of the shooting to come forward.
