Authorities said the victim, who has not yet been publicly identified, is believed to have lived at the home. The shooting occurred Wednesday, prompting a large police response and neighborhood search.

Suspect Taken Into Custody

Fairfax County police confirmed that a 23-year-old suspect has been taken into custody. Police later identified the suspect as Marvin Fernando Morales-Ortiz.

Following the shooting, officers launched an extensive manhunt, concentrating on the 12200 block of Laurel Glade Court, located roughly a quarter-mile from the crime scene.

Search Effort and School Lockdowns

As a precaution during the search, schools in the surrounding area were placed on lockdown while officers combed the neighborhood.

Video from the scene showed police in tactical gear working alongside a K9 unit near an apartment complex. The dog was seen repeatedly examining a bicycle left in the roadway, which investigators later confirmed belonged to the suspect.

Fairfax County Police Chief Kevin Davis said Morales-Ortiz fled the scene on a bicycle, which officers recovered during the search.
