Fairfax County police have identified a suspect following a fatal shooting in Reston, Virginia, that left one person dead at a residence in the 12300 block of Fan Shell Court.
Authorities said the victim, who has not yet been publicly identified, is believed to have lived at the home. The shooting occurred Wednesday, prompting a large police response and neighborhood search.
Suspect Taken Into Custody
Fairfax County police confirmed that a 23-year-old suspect has been taken into custody. Police later identified the suspect as Marvin Fernando Morales-Ortiz.
Following the shooting, officers launched an extensive manhunt, concentrating on the 12200 block of Laurel Glade Court, located roughly a quarter-mile from the crime scene.

Search Effort and School Lockdowns
As a precaution during the search, schools in the surrounding area were placed on lockdown while officers combed the neighborhood.
Video from the scene showed police in tactical gear working alongside a K9 unit near an apartment complex. The dog was seen repeatedly examining a bicycle left in the roadway, which investigators later confirmed belonged to the suspect.
Fairfax County Police Chief Kevin Davis said Morales-Ortiz fled the scene on a bicycle, which officers recovered during the search.
Shortly after Davis spoke with reporters, police announced that the suspect had been located and arrested.

Reston is located in northern Fairfax County, Virginia, within the Washington, DC metropolitan area. The community sits about 20 miles west of downtown Washington, DC, just east of Dulles International Airport.
Reston is bordered by Herndon, Great Falls, Vienna, and Chantilly, and is served by multiple Silver Line Metro stations, making it a major transit-connected suburban area in Fairfax County.
