Thousands of Spectrum customers in central and north Texas faced a major service outage on Friday, disrupting internet, TV, and phone services. According to Downdetector, outage reports peaked around 1:43 pm CT with over 25,000 users experiencing problems.
Spectrum confirmed the disruption on X, stating:
“We are aware of an interruption of services in parts of Central and North Texas. We are working to restore services as quickly as possible and appreciate your patience.”
Outage Reports Begin to Decline
By 2 pm CT, outage reports started to drop, but around 17,000 users were still affected. Many customers took to social media to vent their frustration over connectivity issues, particularly during the afternoon.
The Spectrum outage Dallas area was among the hardest hit. Initial estimates suggested services would be restored by 6:30 pm local time, but user reports indicated problems persisted beyond the timeframe.
Spectrum Outage Spreads to Other States
The impact of the outage extended beyond Texas. Customers in Ohio, Montana, Tennessee, Missouri, and Florida also reported connectivity problems. Cities like Cleveland (OH), Great Falls (MT), and central Missouri experienced widespread disruptions.
Many users reported that while their modems and routers showed normal lights, they still couldn’t connect online. Others experienced DNS errors when attempting to use work VPNs, suggesting the issue may be linked to domain name resolution.
Services Impacted by the Spectrum Outage
The outage disrupted multiple Spectrum services, including:
- Residential internet connections
- Television services
- Business internet and VPN access
- Phone services in certain regions
Customers searching “Is Spectrum down?” flooded social media and outage reporting sites. Some users faced intermittent connections, while others had a complete blackout.
