A vegetation fire erupted on Thursday afternoon in southern Santa Clara County, California, burning several acres near San Martin, according to officials.

The blaze, named the Watson Fire, was first reported at 12:17 PM near West San Martin Avenue and Watsonville Road, close to Llagas Creek, the Santa Clara County Fire Department confirmed.

Fire Burns 3 Acres, No Structures Threatened

By early afternoon, the fire had burned about three acres and was moving at a moderate rate of spread, as reported by CBS News. Authorities stated that no homes or structures were under threat.

Possible Cause: Vehicle Crash Into Pole

Officials believe the fire may have been sparked when a vehicle collided with a pole, based on the Fire Department’s preliminary findings.

Fire crews remain on the scene working to fully contain the flames and prevent further spread.
