The Tampa Police Department shared a gripping video on social media that shows an officer crawling into a burning home to rescue a man trapped inside. The footage, captured on the officer’s bodycam, is going viral for showcasing incredible bravery.

What Happened?

“On August 9, officers rushed into a burning home to save a man. Thick, black smoke was pouring from the home in the 8400 block of N. Highlands Ave., with a large portion engulfed in flames,” the department wrote.

Risking their lives, the officers went inside the smoke-filled home. One officer crawled on the floor to avoid flames and dense smoke before pulling the man to safety.

“Without a second thought, these officers went in. They found the man just a few feet from the front door and quickly pulled him out to safety,” the statement continued.

Quick Action Saved a Life

The department praised the officers, saying, “Thanks to their brave and fast actions, a life was saved.” The man and the officers were treated for smoke inhalation and are now safe.

Cause of Fire and Teamwork

“Tampa Fire Rescue extinguished the fire, which was determined to be accidental. We are grateful for the dedication and teamwork of all first responders on the scene!” officials added.

Social Media Reactions

The video sparked widespread praise online. One user commented, “Law Enforcement should have a 10-minute oxygen tank and a mask in their car. They always get to the fire before firefighters.” Another wrote, “Good job, thank you for your service. I’m glad all of you were okay, and the family.”
