The AS355 helicopter was involved in a flypast as part of the MITSATOM 2025 exercise, which also included participation from Indonesia, Thailand, and Singapore.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) confirmed that the accident occurred at 9:51 AM, involving a PDRM AS355N helicopter with registration number 9M-PHG. According to CAAM, the helicopter took off from the Tanjung Kupang police station at the same time.
Critical Condition of Some Rescued Personnel
Reports indicate that two of the five police personnel are in critical condition and are receiving respiratory assistance. Both are currently being treated at Sultanah Aminah Hospital (HSA) in Johor Bahru.
