The technology giant promises seven years of updates for its Pixel smartphones. The three-year update support for the latest Pixel Watch looks small compared to the latest Samsung smartwatches, which are guaranteed to receive software updates for four years.

According to Google’s official support page, the Pixel Watch 3 will receive guaranteed software upgrades until October 2027. The software updates will include Pixel Watch security fixes, as well as feature drops and other updates.

The Pixel Watch 3 was announced alongside Wear OS 5, which is based on Android 14. Google promises a similar three-year update cycle for prior devices as well. The Pixel Watch 2, which was debuted in 2023, will receive updates until October 2026. The Pixel Watch from 2022 will be updated until October 2025.

Google Pixel smartphones will receive seven years of OS and security updates. Samsung, Google’s biggest challenger, presently guarantees four years of upgrades for the Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra models.
