When is Android P coming to my phone?

Every year Google introduce its mobile software at Google I/O, with no exception this year also google revealed its Android 9 Pie Operating System.

With more than 76% userbase worldwide, Google’s mobile operating system is growing fast enough to reach every mobile consumer in the world. That’s why we see regular security patches, new functions and features every year.

With lunch of its Android 9 Pie operating system, every mobile user want to know whether they will get this update or not and if yes, then when they will get the new update.

According to Google, those devices who are participated in Google’s beta program will get the update around autumn 2018 and that process is already starting.


Android 9 Pie update: Google Pixel devices

When it comes to device updates, Google Pixel devices are the first to get Android P. According to Google, official rollout started in Aug 2018 for Pixel devices. So if you are the pixel owner then you already have the new software.

Pixel Devices those will get Android P update are listed below.

  • Google Pixel
  • Google Pixel XL
  • Google Pixel 2
  • Google Pixel 2 XL

These 4 devices are eligible for Android P and Google has confirmed that there was no developer preview and final release for older Google or Nexus devices.


Android 9 Pie update: BlackBerry Mobile

BlackBerry KeyOne just received Android Oreo Update in late summer 2018 only in Canada. So far there is no official statement about Key2 update and Motion hasn’t received Oreo update yet. Still, we hope the device which will get Android P is

Android 9 Pie update: Samsung

With having a large number of variants and market share Samsung is way ahead of other devices. But in case of updates, Samsung is really slow. Devices those are not more than a year or two old will definitely get the Android P update but it will much likely take more time to get the updates.

Android 9 Pie update: OnePlus

OnePlus has actually moved fast, with Android P out for the OnePlus 6 and other devices to follow. On Friday 21 Sep 2018 OnePlus started Android P updates.

Devices that are confirmed to get Android P:

  • OnePlus 6 (Started from 21 Sep)
  • OnePlus 5T
  • OnePlus 5
  • OnePlus 3T
  • OnePlus 3


Android 9 Pie update: Nokia

This time Nokia is really fast in case of updates. With its new portfolio in Android One, we will see a really fast update to its devices. On Aug 8, 2018 Nokia released an official announcement regarding its Android P updates. Nokia 7 Plus supports Google’s beta program and will get the update to Android P this autumn.

Motorola has already announced regarding its Android P update and devices those will get the updates are,

  • Moto Z2 Force Edition

Android 9 Pie update: Honor

Recently Honor has launched a lot of devices and has so far not released any official announcement regarding updates. Although there is no official confirmation, we suspect devices those will get updates are,

  • Honor 10
  • Honor View 10
  • Honor Play
  • Honor 9
  • Honor 9 Lite
  • Honor 8 Pro


Android 9 Pie update: Huawei

Like Honor, there has been no confirmation from Huawei regarding Android P update. Although if facts to be believed, some Android P beta testing has already done to certain devices with EMUI9. So we suspect that EMUI 9 will come with Android Pie.

Android 9 Pie update: HTC

HTC already confirmed about certain devices Android P updates. With smooth Oreo update, it’s pretty sure that HTC will go with its two-step update procedure as promised.

As per 10 Aug 2018, the official statement by HTC below devices will get Android P update, but exact dates remain to be seen.

  • HTC U12+
  • HTC U11+
  • HTC U11
  • HTC U11 Life (Android One)


Android 9 Pie update: Sony Xperia

Sony Xperia XZ2 was on the Android P beta, so it’s a good sign that it will get the Android P update this year.

Google already released the statement that Android P will come to devices that participated in Google’s beta program between this autumn.
