With WhatsApp Web, previously you have to login with your phone everytime for using WhatsApp Web on your desktop. This process now goes away with the Multi-device feature that now comes out of the beta program. The feature is now rolling out to users across Android and iOS devices.
Essentially, this feature extends the full benefits of WhatsApp to your PC even if your smartphone is not online. All you need to do is opt for the multi-device feature and scan the QR code.
Until you logout of that PC yourself, your WhatsApp account will be reflected on the browser. It works even better with the WhatsApp for Desktop app on Windows 10, Windows 11, and macOS Monterey.
The Multi-device connection feature was limited to users in beta only for now. Users had to opt-in for the beta program before trying it out on WhatsApp Web.
Now, this opt-in process goes out and users can now directly have their WhatsApp account reflected on up to four devices together. Note that your WhatsApp Web account will stay logged in for 14 days only, after which you will need to scan the QR code again.

While the feature works on Android devices as advertised, it is not the same with iOS devices. When linked with Android devices, you can delete messages and threads from the Web portal. On iOS, that’s not the case. That said, you can delete messages in the beta mode on iPhones.
Then there’s the case of tablets and other smartphones, none of which support this feature. You can only login to WhatsApp Web for now on PCs.
