The Girl in the Spider’s Web is the second American film adaptation of the Millennium Series saga and an underwhelming sequel to 2011’s The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. Directed by Fede Alvarez, this movie is based on a book that takes characters from Steig Larsson’s bestseller Millennium series.
Movies show the life of young computer hacker Lisbeth Salander and journalist Mikael Blomkvist and how they find themselves caught in a web of spies, cybercriminals and corrupt government officials.
Here, she is hired by a conscience-stricken computer programmer Frans Balder (Stephen Merchant) to retrieve Firefall. Firefall is a programme capable of accessing the world’s nuclear codes that Balder had developed for the National Security Agency. Balder wants the application back so that he can destroy it because he believes it is too dangerous that it exists.
The Girl in the Spider’s Web Review:-
This sequel belongs to Claire Foy only, and she delivers an appropriate performance of the lonely and antisocial woman.
There are a lot of negative and mixed reviews spreading about this movie, but I will advise not to listen to them. The fact is that when it comes to its ratings, this movie has a 5 out of 10 rating on Rotten Tomatoes which includes 3 out of 5 Audience Score along with a 45% audience liking score.
When it comes to IMDB, this movie has 6.1 out of 10 rating. So it’s pretty confusing for most of the movie lovers to decide whether to watch it or not.
In my opinion, this movie is not that bad. I do beg to differ from those critics who said Claire Foy didn’t do justice to the character of Lisbeth and how this movie didn’t live up to the expectations of its Hollywood predecessor.
Whether to watch it or not:
Definitely yes, its fun to watch this movie on a big screen to enjoy its stunning shots. I must say the cinematography was amazing and you will definitely enjoy this on a big screen only. Besides, you will be pleased with the choice of costumes, color, and the incredible soundtrack.
