2. Healing

A septum piercing is going to take between two to three months to heal completely. You may feel swelling for a couple of days after the piercing, but don’t worry it’s common. It may feel uncomfortable initially but remember not to move it accidentally, or else it will hurt badly.

Don’t touch the ring, play with it or clean it for an initial couple of days. The septum piercing is done at a delicate place that can be moved naturally when eating or talking, in that case only touch it with clean hands. It’s better to wash your hands with antibacterial soap before touching your ring.

3. Cleaning

One of the important things with any piercing is to create a cleaning routine. You have to be extra careful about the cleaning throughout the healing period which is going to last for nearly three months. You can use saline soak twice a day(once in the morning and once at night) to clean the septum piercing.

Saline Solution: 4 tablespoons of the non-iodized sea salt mixed with a gallon of distilled water. Place it in the microwave for a few seconds to make the solution body temperature. Be careful not to make it too hot or else it may burn you and the piercing.
