Samsung Galaxy A9 with a quad camera set up at the back has officially been launched at the company’s “4X fun” Galaxy A event in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Galaxy A9 is the world’s first phone with four rear cameras. Samsung also showcased its Galaxy A7 smartphone at the event.
The Galaxy A9 launch event was also streamed live via Samsung’s official Newsroom site.
Samsung Galaxy A9 specifications
Display: 6.3-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 2220 x 1080 pixel with an 18.5:9 aspect ratio
Processor: It is packed with an octa-core processor powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC, with four cores clocked at 2.2GHz and four cores clocked at 1.8GHz
RAM: It will be offered with two variants, 6GB RAM/128GB and 8GB of RAM/128GB
Internal storage: All variants will come with 128GB of internal storage. This is expandable up to 512GB through a microSD card
Rear camera: The quad camera setup on the back, with a 24MP main sensor with f/1.7 aperture, a 8MP ultra wide angle lens with f/2.4 aperture, a 10MP telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom and a 5MP depth sensor. In low-light conditions, the main camera uses pixel binning to combine 4 pixels into one.
Front camera: On the front, the Samsung Galaxy A9 (2018) has a 24-megapixel camera with f/2.0 aperture
Software: It will ship with Android O along with Samsung’s Experience UI on top
Battery: The Galaxy A9 will house a 3,800mAh battery with fast charge support via USB Type-C.
Network and others: The Galaxy A9 supports 4G, VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth v5.0 with speeds up to 2Mbps, NFC, GPS, BeiDou and GLONASS
Sensors: It comes with an accelerometer, fingerprint sensor, gyro sensor, geomagnetic sensor, hall sensor, proximity sensor, and an RGB light sensor
Color Options: Samsung Galaxy A9 has three color options – Caviar Black, Lemonade Blue, and Bubblegum Pink
The Galaxy A9 (2018) will cost 599 euros when it goes on sale globally in November.
