Monterey County Fire: Evacuations Ordered in South Zone

Salt/14-2 Fire Sparks Evacuations in South Monterey County.

A fast-moving wildfire, known as the Salt/14-2 Fire, has erupted in South Monterey County, prompting urgent evacuation orders on Thursday.

Residents in Zone MRY-G041-A — covering areas South and East of Parkfield/Coalinga Grade Road, North of Oak Street, and East of Joaquin Canyon and Table Mountain — have been told to evacuate immediately.

Authorities stressed that people should follow directions from emergency crews and not return until the official order is lifted.

Evacuation Warnings for Nearby Communities

The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office also issued an evacuation warning for Zone MRY-G041-B, which includes areas South and East of Parkfield/Coalinga Grade Road, North of Oak Street, and West of Joaquin Canyon and Table Mountain.

The Sheriff’s Office urged residents to get prepared:

“Prepare to evacuate. Gather loved ones, pets, medications, important documents, and your go bag. Stay aware and be ready to leave when an evacuation order is issued.”
