East Houston Fire: Blaze Erupts at Battery Warehouse on Milby Street

A significant East Houston Fire broke out at a warehouse on Milby Street in Houston’s East Downtown area, which stores lithium and lead acid batteries. Heavy smoke was visible as Houston Fire Department crews arrived near Winchester.

Firefighters quickly established a water supply and are actively working to bring the flames under control.

No Danger to the Public

Authorities have confirmed that there is no danger to nearby residents or the public. However, the Houston Police Department urged people on X to allow firefighters space to continue their work:

“Firefighters are battling a blaze at a warehouse that stores lithium and lead acid batteries on Milby St in the East Downtown area. No hazard to the public, but please give us space to bring it under control.”

Firefighting Efforts Continue

The warehouse’s storage of lithium and lead acid batteries adds extra complexity to the firefighting efforts, as these materials can be highly flammable. Crews remain on the scene, monitoring the fire and ensuring safety in the surrounding area.
