The feature is currently available on WhatsApp for Android and iOS.

WhatsApp has added a new feature that allows users to share longer voice messages in status updates. The feature was added to both the iPhone and Android versions of the app, and users have already begun receiving it on their devices.

The Meta-owned instant messaging platform is currently experimenting with a number of new features, including AI-generated profile pictures and the ability to remove the count of unread messages, all with the goal of improving the app’s overall user experience.

Previously, WhatsApp users could upload up to 30-second voice notes as status updates. This may be accomplished by navigating to the status update screen and tapping and holding the microphone icon. The platform is now expanding the duration of voice notes to one minute, a feature that will be rolled out with the latest update of the app.

We were able to verify the feature’s availability and record one-minute audio notes, which we saved as status updates on our devices. It is now available on both Android and iOS devices. Introducing this functionality may make it easier for users who used to separate long audio messages to post as WhatsApp status updates because they would not have to do so as frequently.

WhatsApp normally rolls out updates gradually, so if you haven’t seen this feature on your device, we recommend that you update to the most recent version of the app. The feature may take several days to arrive.

According to WhatsApp update tracker WABetaInfo, the platform is working on introducing a number of new features for users. One recently rumored feature is Create with AI, which allows users to create AI-powered profile images. Users may be able to employ artificial intelligence (AI) to produce personalized images that reflect their interests, personalities, and moods.

Chat themes are another feature that is apparently being developed. According to sources, WhatsApp could soon allow users to choose among five preset themes: blue, green (the default), grey, red, and purple. Choosing a theme supposedly allows you to modify the color of the chat as well as the chat background – all through a new theme picker.
