Google Photos for Android may soon be updated with a new feature allowing users to edit their videos easily. The feature is currently not available to users and was discovered hidden within the app. These video presets include four new tools that allow users to make specific modifications to either the entire video or a small section.

According to a report, these presets are now in development and may be made available to users in the future. Notably, an earlier report said that Google Photos would have a tool to hide a person’s face from the app.

Android Authority discovered a new feature in Google Photos version 6.97 that is currently hidden, meaning users would be unable to use it even if that version of the app is loaded on their phone. The feature is reported to be located within the Edit option. The new Preset banner apparently includes four options: Basic Cut, Slow Mo, Zoom, and Track.

Each of these options is claimed to apply a predetermined edit to the video. Users can apply the preset to the full video or a portion of it by selecting the duration and slides. Additionally, many presets can be added to the same slide. However, it has been reported that video files cannot be exported if more than two edits are made.

The Basic Cut preset is said to trim to the essential moment and brighten the colors. Slow Mo reportedly offers a slow-motion effect to chosen video frames. Zoom, as the name implies, zooms in and out of the specified region and can be used to emphasize a distant object. Finally, Track claims to automatically track and zoom in on the video’s main subject.

However, it should be highlighted that this feature was discovered within the app’s code, and it may or may not be implemented by Google. More details regarding the functionality cannot be revealed until it is officially released to users.
