Eliotte Heinz’s family received devastating news on Wednesday, just days after the Wisconsin graduate student mysteriously went missing. The 22-year-old was last seen leaving a waterfront bar and has now been confirmed dead, discovered in the Mississippi River in Brownsville.

Discovery and Search Efforts

Heinz’s body was located just before 10:30 AM local time, more than 10 miles from where she was last spotted. Her disappearance prompted an exhaustive four-day search operation involving local authorities. “This was not the outcome we had hoped for throughout this search,” said La Crosse Police Chief Shawn Kudron.

“Our thoughts are with Eliotte’s family, friends, and all those who knew Eliotte. We are grateful for the outpouring of support from so many within the La Crosse community, the state of Wisconsin, and nationally to locate Eliotte,” he added.

Last Seen at Bronco Bar

Security footage captured Eliotte walking near the Mississippi River waterfront, about a 30-minute walk from the bar where she was with friends. She left the Bronco Bar around 2:30 AM on Sunday, and her sudden disappearance has left the community in shock.

During the search, Eliotte’s cellphone was reportedly found along the riverbank by her friends. In response to her tragic passing, Viterbo University announced plans to hold a memorial service for her.

A Tribute to a Kind Soul

Dr. Rick Trietley, President of Viterbo University, expressed condolences, stating, “There are no words that can ease the pain of losing someone so young, with so much life ahead of her. Our hearts go out to Eliotte’s family. We hold them in our prayers and stand with them in their grief.”

Eliotte’s mother, Amber, shared her grief on Fox & Friends, highlighting her daughter’s remarkable spirit: “She has got the biggest heart and unending kindness for everyone. I think that is noted by how many people have showed up for her.”
