One of the main highlights of the company’s annual Meta Connect event on Wednesday was the Meta AI features. The company updated the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses with additional artificial intelligence technologies and unveiled the new voice chat capability. Additionally, the massive social media company extended the experimental “Imagine” tool to Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger.

Users can now rebuild their profile photos in various AI-generated styles thanks to a function introduced earlier this year. All users are now able to access this. Furthermore, Meta is testing a feature that will create images automatically and suggest that people post them to their feeds.

The social media giant provided information regarding this feature’s operation in a newsroom post. Meta AI can now be used by people to create images from text prompts. Additionally, users can ask the AI to create images based on an image they give as input. However, the company did not let users use their images of their profile pictures to generate images.

This is about to change, as the company said at Meta Connect 2024 that all Facebook and Instagram users would be able to utilize the “Imagine” function, which will let them write both posts and Stories.

In other words, users can now ask Meta AI to “Imagine” them as an astronaut, superhero, or royal monarch, and the AI will comply. The company’s released photos give the impression that the AI-generated photographs won’t be extremely realistic, rather, they will look digitally generated. Meta is also adding AI-generated watermarks on these images as well.

Users can now use AI to create custom chat themes in Instagram DM and Messenger. Although users could previously change the chat bubble and backdrop color, this will allow for more customization.

Furthermore, Meta is testing a feature that uses the Imagine function for recommendations. It intends to display automatically created AI images of each user’s profile photo in Facebook and Instagram feeds. The generated images will be based on the user’s interests or current trends. The user has the option to share the image on their feed or Stories if they like it. To alter the suggested image, they can also tap on it.
