According to reports, LinkedIn is removing the AI prompts it used to show on its website. Premium users would see these AI reminders on their feeds, encouraging them to take advantage of the AI features of the service. Nevertheless, several users have reported that these prompts had vanished from the site for quite some time.
The company has reportedly acknowledged reducing these prompts, but it hasn’t stated why. Notably, this month’s earlier report stated that the social media site was using user data to build its AI models without informing users first.
LinkedIn is reportedly quietly eliminating the AI prompt recommendations in the feed that Premium users have noticed often, according to a Fast Company report. These prompts appeared underneath every post and suggested related queries that a user could ask the AI. This feature reminded me of something Meta released for Facebook.
On the other hand, it appears that these prompts are no longer noticeable. LinkedIn spokesperson Suzi Owens confirmed to the publication that these AI suggestions were indeed being scaled back by the company but highlighted that this was not in response to criticism by users or a negative perception of the AI features.
The spokesman told the publication, “Members can still use our AI-powered tools on the jobs home page to get personalized insights, like how to build a network, position yourself for a job, or learn about a company.”
The point about user criticism comes as several users reportedly found their feed bombarded by these prompts, and not helpful. The purpose of these recommendations was to encourage users to experiment with the AI features that the company introduced in November 2023. Notably, LinkedIn does not allow you to disable these prompts.
