iPhone 16 Series Said to Support up to 45W Wired Fast Charging

This could result in a roughly 50% faster charging speed for the iPhone 16 series than the iPhone 15 devices.

On September 9, the company held its “Its Glowtime” event at Apple Park, where the iPhone 16 series was unveiled. Compared to the iPhone 15 series, Apple’s most recent smartphone lineup offers several hardware and software enhancements, including the addition of Apple Intelligence, a collection of artificial intelligence (AI) tools.

However, the Cupertino-based tech giant did not publicize one improvement expected to accompany the iPhone 16 series: significantly faster charging than the previous model. Tipster ShrimpApplePro revealed a certification that the iPhone 16 series acquired from the China Quality Certification Center on X (formerly known as Twitter).

According to the specifications, USB Type-C fast charging up to 45W is supported by Apple’s newest iPhone models. According to Apple reports, the iPhone 16 series is testing at 5 to 15 volts and 3 amps, which might translate to a 45W maximum charging capacity when using a wired connection.

Compared to the iPhone 15 lineup, which was supposed to support up to 25W fast charging but reportedly maxed out at 27–29W, this makes the iPhone 16 lineup almost 50% faster in terms of charging. Even though Apple has released new iPhone models with faster charging speeds, the company still says that using its 20W adapter is the only way to fast charge any of its iPhones.

However, Apple did specify that MagSafe charging can now provide up to 25W wireless fast charging, although it requires the correctly rated power adapter. Another claim put up by tipster Ice Universe was that the maximum charging power of the iPhone 16 is actually 39W.
