Google To Make Two-Step Verification Process Mandatory

Google’s official blog post stated, “by the end of 2021, we plan to auto-enroll an additional 150 million Google users in 2SV and require 2 million YouTube creators to turn it on.”

Google, back in May announced that the way users login into their Google account will change by the end of 2021. The tech giant said to make a two-step verification process mandatory for all users.

From November 9 onward, all Google account users will need to go through two-step verification to be able to access their account. The update is to ensure the protection of your Google account.

Announcing the update earlier this year, Google’s official blog post stated, “by the end of 2021, we plan to auto-enroll an additional 150 million Google users in 2SV and require 2 million YouTube creators to turn it on.”

Back in October, a Google Blog post focused on the need for 2SV for security purposes and confirmed that it would auto-enroll an additional 150 million Google users in 2SV. Additionally, Google mentioned that 2 million YouTube creators are required to turn it on too.

Google blog post reads, “For years, Google has been at the forefront of innovation in two-step verification (2SV), one of the most reliable ways to prevent unauthorized access to accounts and networks. 2SV is strongest when it combines both “something you know” (like a password) and “something you have” (like your phone or a security key).”

The two-step verification basically an extra layer of security added to all accounts. Once the option is enabled, users will receive an SMS or an email with a one-time password (OTP) whenever they login to their Google account.

Users will be able to login into their account only when their enter the one-time password, which will change every time they login into their Google account. This will add an extra layer of protection to your account and secure personal data.
