An update for Gemini for iOS was released on Monday, bringing with it a number of new lockscreen widgets for the AI app. iPhone users can configure a total of six lockscreen widgets to quickly access particular Gemini app features without first unlocking their smartphone.
In addition to the widgets, Google has made its AI app accessible through Control Center, and users can now install Gemini for convenience. Notably, at the Mobile World Congress (2025) in Barcelona, the tech giant with its headquarters in Mountain View also demonstrated new Gemini Live features.
On Monday, we noticed the new lockscreen widgets in the app. Version 1.2025.0762303 of the Gemini for iOS application came with it. The update should be available in the coming days if it hasn’t already for the majority of iPhone owners.
Each of the six new lockscreen widgets has a unique set of applications. The first is the “Type Prompt,” which enables users to ask Gemini a question and view the answer without ever unlocking the device.
Talk Live is another interesting widget that allows users to hold a two-way conversation with the AI in real time by opening Gemini Live directly. Interestingly, this is the sole method available to iOS users to avoid the two-step Gemini Live access process.
An Open Mic lockscreen widget was also included by Google. This will enable users to speak their prompts rather than type them by rapidly opening the microphone. Use Camera, the fourth widget, opens the camera to take a quick picture and sends it to Gemini. After that, users can pose questions regarding the image itself.
Share Image and Share File are the last two lockscreen widgets. These enable people to ask questions about them and exchange files and photographs with Gemini in an instant. Interestingly, the iPhone’s lockscreen may also use any of these widgets as the corner buttons.

Users can also add Gemini to Control Center if they would rather not use it as a lockscreen widget. Gemini Advanced customers now have access to Deep Research thanks to a new update to the iOS app. Users may now share links, text, and images with the AI chatbot directly from any app thanks to the update.
