Apple released iOS 17.1, the most recent version of its iPhone operating system. When you are out of AirDrop range, the update adds functionality for massive AirDrop file transfers via the Internet. Additionally, it improves the StandBy feature and Apple Music.
Additionally, it also includes several bug fixes. iOS 17.1 will be available for iPhone Xs and subsequent models, including the iPhone Xs Max, iPhone XR, and iPhone 11 series. Besides iOS 17.1, Apple has also launched iPadOS 17.1 and watchOS 10.1 to all supported devices.
Last month, iOS 17 was released to the recently debuted iPhone 15 series, as well as a few selected older iPhone models. Apple has now officially launched iOS 17.1 for eligible iPhone devices, as well as iPadOS 17.1 and watchOS 10.1.
The most recent update includes new features, improvements, and bug fixes. When the update is available, a notification icon will appear in the Settings app. iPhone users can manually check for updates by going to Settings > General > Software Update.
iOS 17.1 and iPadOS 17.1 enable the option to continue AirDrop transfers over the Internet if the two linked devices move out of the Wi-Fi range after the sharing process has started. The Apple Music app now offers options for favorite songs, albums, and playlists, and users may filter the library to view their favorites.
Similarly, the update includes a new cover art collection with designs that change colors to match the music in the playlist. Song suggestions will also be displayed at the bottom of each playlist in iOS 17.1. The most recent iPad update adds compatibility for the new Apple Pencil (USB-C).
In addition, the StandBy feature in the iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Pro Max, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max models is tweaked to provide users more control over when the display turns off. The most recent iOS version addresses many reported issues with keyboard responsiveness, displaying incoming caller names, and displaying image persistence.
It adds Home key support for Matter locks and fixes a problem that could cause the Significant Location privacy setting to reset when transferring or pairing an Apple Watch for the first time. On the Lock Screen, you can now choose a specific album to use with Photo Shuffle. The update improves the crash detection feature in all iPhone 15, iPhone 14 and iPhone SE models.
iOS 17.1 will be available for iPhone devices including the iPhone 15 series, iPhone 14 series, iPhone SE (2022), iPhone 13 series, iPhone 12 series, iPhone SE (2020), iPhone 11 series, iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR.
